Overview
Upsells is a feature within Paytronix Online Ordering that automatically presents upgrade prompts to guests at the point of checkout. When a guest adds a qualifying item to their cart — for example, a small pizza with size options — they are shown an inline prompt to upgrade, along with the exact price difference. The upgrade is a single click, and the cart total updates immediately.
Upsells complement the existing cross-sell suite by targeting items the guest has already selected, creating a natural upgrade moment without interrupting the ordering experience.
How It Works
Upsell prompts appear in the cart view only — guests are not interrupted while browsing or selecting items.
When a guest adds a qualifying item, an upgrade prompt appears inline showing the price difference (for example, "Upgrade to Large? (+$4.00)").
Accepting the upsell is a single click. The cart total updates immediately with no additional steps.
Upsells work alongside priced modifiers and options prices — the exact cost to upgrade is always surfaced to the guest.
Menu Structure Requirements
Items with price modifiers and options with prices are supported. Items structured as separate menu entries per size (e.g. small, medium, large as distinct items) are not currently supported.
Enabling Upsells
Upsells are self-service. To enable the feature, navigate to Cross-Sell Settings in the Online Ordering Admin and toggle upsells on.
Note: If you are unable to locate the Cross-Sell Settings page or experience any issues enabling the feature, please start a conversation with Paytronix Support.
Built-In Reporting
A dedicated reporting view is available within Cross-Sell Settings in the Online Ordering Admin. No custom report is needed. The reporting view includes:
Upsell acceptance count
Incremental revenue generated
Daily trend charts
Top upsold items breakdown
This gives your team a real-time view of which items are driving lift and allows you to measure the revenue impact of your upsell configuration directly within the Admin.
Known Limitations
Upsell prompts appear on the checkout cart view only and are not shown during item browsing or selection.
Items structured as separate menu entries per size — for example, a "Small Pizza" and a "Large Pizza" listed as two distinct menu items — are not supported in this version. Support for additional menu structures is planned for a future release.
