Overview
If pizza is on the menu, we have some great tips on how to make sure it’s easy for your guests to order various sizes and topping configurations.
How do I add a build-your-own pizza to my menu?
1. Begin by adding your build-your-own pizza to your menu the same way you add any other item. For more information on building your menu, read Building your Paytronix Online Ordering Menu.
2. Once you have added the name of your pizza along with a description and price, select Add Option.
3. Create an option group called something like Whole Toppings.
4. Add the various toppings you’d like to offer for your pizza. NOTE: These values must be in the same order and have the same spelling for each option group (Whole, Left, Right). Failure to keep the values the same within each option will result in the half/half function not working properly.
5. Repeat steps 2-4 for Left Side and Right Side toppings. NOTE: The option group names don't have to be the exact same as what is shown, but keep in mind that they will be visible to the guests, so they need to be intuitive as to which part of the pizza each option will cover.
6. Looking at the screenshot above, please note that you must check the Allow Multiple Choices box for each option group that will be used in the Half/Half pizza toppings section. Also, If you’d like to limit how many toppings your guests can add to each part of their pizza, you can add a value to the Max. Selections field.
7. Under the Options area, check the box marked Use Half/Half Pizza Toppings
.
8. When you click on the checkbox, it'll reveal an area containing dropdowns to select which option group you want to use for each "section" of the pizza (Main, Left Side, and Right Side, with Main referring to the entire pizza):
9. Now you can assign the option groups you created to the Half/Half Pizza Toppings dropdowns, as shown below. Be sure to click the Submit button at the bottom of the page to save your changes.
What is the build-your-own guest experience like?
When selecting a “build your own” pizza from your menu, your guests will be given the option to choose what they’d like for toppings on the whole pizza, the left side and/ or the right side. By selecting the appropriate icon for each, as shown below, they can build out their perfect pie.
In the upper right corner of this screen your guests will see the “maximum” number of toppings that they can add to their pizza. Remember when you set the maximum under Options? Here’s where that comes into play for your guests.
As they make their selections, this message will adjust to show when they’ve add a topping to the whole pizza (1) and when they’ve added a topping to one side (.5) If they go over the maximum toppings, they will not be able to submit their order and they’ll see the counter has exceeded the maximum, as shown below.
Additionally, if they overload one side of the pizza, they’ll see a notification that one side has too many toppings.
How do I add pizzas of different sizes to my menu?
If you’d like to offer different sizes for your various pizzas, you can choose to do so when adding the pizza to your menu.
1. Begin by following the steps above for naming the pizza and adding a description and price.
2. To add additional sizes, simply select the Add a Size button.
3. Add each size that you’d like to along with the price for each.
Considerations for Different Pizza Sizes
When creating menu items that allow for pizza to be ordered in various sizes, it’s important to correctly set this up on the back end to avoid increased load times in your customers' browsers.
First, make sure you select Prices Vary by Size for your Whole Pizza, Left Side and Right Side Options.
Next, edit your values for (pepperoni, ham, bacon, etc.) to increase price based on the size of the pizza ordered (as seen below).
This will make it substantially easier for your guests to see your menu load and to be able to easily pick their selections based on the size of the pizza they with to order.
