Overview
Custom Domains allow your Paytronix online ordering site to run on a URL you own, for example, order.yourbrand.com, instead of the default Paytronix-hosted address. This creates a consistent, brand-owned experience for your guests at every touchpoint.
Before Custom Domains
Guests visit a Paytronix-hosted address such as yourbrand.orderexperience.net. You can choose the first portion of this address, but the .orderexperience.net suffix is fixed because it belongs to the Paytronix platform.
After Custom Domains
You configure a fully branded domain, including both the subdomain (e.g., "order") and your root domain (e.g., "yourbrand.com"), to create a URL like order.yourbrand.com. Setup is self-service and guided end-to-end in Online Ordering Admin.
Why Use a Custom Domain?
Strengthen guest trust. A recognizable, brand-owned web address helps guests feel confident they're on your site.
Reinforce brand identity. Maintain full control over the look and structure of your URL — no platform branding in the address bar.
Move fast, no support ticket needed. The guided setup tool lets your team configure the domain independently.
No additional cost. Custom Domains are available to all restaurant and c-store online ordering clients at no extra charge.
Before You Begin
Before starting setup, confirm the following:
The SELF_SERVICE_BRANDED_DOMAINS feature flag has been enabled on your account by Paytronix. You will need to ask Paytronix Support to complete this.
You have access to your domain's DNS settings (either login credentials for your domain registrar such as GoDaddy or Cloudflare, or access to a sysadmin who can make DNS changes).
You have decided which domain or subdomain to use (e.g., order.yourbrand.com).
Setting Up Your Custom Domain
1. Access the Domains Dashboard
Navigate to Online Ordering Admin and go to the Domains section under the Settings for Client Dashboard. You will see two sections:
Managed Domains — Paytronix-hosted subdomains (e.g., yourbrand.orderexperience.net).
Branded Domains — Domains you own and manage. This is where you'll add your custom domain.
2. Add the Branded Domain
Click "Add" in the Branded Domains section to open the modal.
Enter your domain name, probably with the subdomain as described below if you want to maintain some part of your website and direct guests to order from your root domain.
After you click Confirm, the system will validate and add your domain to our system.
Once added it will be able to receive traffic from browsers using that domain.
3. Entri Flow
After adding your domain, you'll be guided through DNS setup using Entri. There are two paths:
Automated Flow (Recommended)
We pass the details off to Entri modal, which will guide you to update your domain’s DNS credentials to route traffic from their subdomain.
Entri will do its best to automate this process, prompting for internet domain provider logins, or giving options for manual set up. Entri will automatically detect the DNS provider for the branded domain and prompt you to login with your provider credentials or send a manual-update link to your sysadmin to do this configuration asynchronously.
If the automated process succeeds (logins given, etc) and the automatic steps succeed, Entri should report that it has successfully set up the DNS records for the branded domain to point to our servers.
We should see a success page once Entri completes its DNS setup steps complete.
Manual Flow
If automated setup is unavailable or you prefer manual configuration, Entri will display the CNAME record values to copy.
Log in to your domain registrar's DNS management panel and add the CNAME record you copied. Once the records have been entered, return to this page and confirm that you have added these records to your domain’s provider.
Once completed you should see a confirmation modal, indicating that this step is complete.
Note: DNS changes can take up to 48 hours to fully propagate, though they often take effect within a few hours.
4. Verify Setup Status
Once you've completed the DNS step, return to the Domains Dashboard and click the refresh (Check Status) button.
The Branded Domains table tracks four status columns:
Server Configured — Confirms your domain has been registered with the Paytronix system.
DNS Configured — Confirms the CNAME record is pointing to the Paytronix servers. This transitions from Pending to Done as DNS propagates.
Proxy Active — Confirms SSL/TLS and secure routing are active for your domain. This is triggered automatically after DNS is confirmed.
Maps Displayable — Confirms a Google Maps API key has been created for your domain, enabling maps in your ordering experience. This activates automatically in the background.
Clicking the refresh button triggers various API calls to see if there are updates to the statuses.
5. Set as Default Domain
Once all four status columns show Done (checkmarks), click Make Default.
This activates your custom domain as the primary URL for guest-facing menus, email links, and order status pages.
Here we can see the branded domain is fully set up to receive ordering traffic
and is now the default domain we use for creating ordering links for this client.
Frequently Asked Questions
Will my old Paytronix URL still work after I set a custom domain?
Yes. Existing links — including guest bookmarks and any URLs already distributed in emails or on your website — will continue to work. Browsers do not automatically redirect guests from the old address to your new custom domain. Guests who visit using the old link will still see your ordering site, though their browser bar will continue to show the old domain name. We recommend updating any buttons, QR codes, or email templates to point to your new custom domain when you're ready.
What if I want to redirect the old URL to my new custom domain?
If you have concerns about the legacy URL and want to configure a redirect, please reach out to your Paytronix account team. Redirect configuration is handled on a case-by-case basis with the Product team.
How long does setup take?
Most of the steps complete immediately. The main variable is DNS propagation, which typically takes a few hours but can take up to 48 hours. You can monitor progress using the Check Status button in the Domains Dashboard.
Is there an extra cost for Custom Domains?
No. Custom Domains are available at no additional cost to all restaurant and c-store online ordering clients.
Who can I contact if I run into issues?
If you experience any issues during setup, contact Paytronix Support through your standard support channel or reach out to your account team.
