What is the Bulk Activate Tool?

Need to activate a large range of cards? This article walks you through the Bulk Activate tool.

Updated over 2 months ago

Overview

This feature allows you to activate a series of cards in bulk with one step in the Paytronix portal. Any type of card (Gift, Loyalty, Comp) can be activated using the Bulk Activate tool.

Before You Start

Before you get started, here are a couple important items to cover:

A card template must be setup with an Activation Filter that allows for bulk activation via our CSR portal. If this template is new, or you have not bulk activated from this template prior, you can confirm with Paytronix Support if this Activation functionality is turned on for the template. If not, Paytronix Support can assist.

The batch of cards you are activating must be sequential in order. For the range of cards you are activating you will need to know the first card number, last card number, and total number of cards within the range. The range must also be entirely inactive. There can not be a single card in the sequence that is already active.

Ensure you have the proper permissions to access the bulk activate functionality. If you are not seeing Bulk Activate as an option in the drop down from Marketing Tools, please speak to your merchant’s user administrator who can grant you the proper permissions.

Using the Bulk Activate Tool

  3. Select a store of activation from the drop down. The store of activation will determine in reporting which store the activation event for these cards is associated with. If you are activating gift cards, the store chosen may have impacts on state dependent escheatment law. You can choose an activation store that is a physical location or a virtual store such as Corporate.

  4. Enter the first and last card number of the series of card you are activating. This can be any sequential sequence of cards within a larger batch, as long as the first, last, and number of cards is accurate.

  5. Enter the number of cards you are activating in that sequence. This number includes the first and last card numbers.

  6. If the cards you are bulk activating are gift cards, you also have the option within this Bulk Activation flow to set an initial stored value amount. This option will only appear if the cards are gift cards. You can choose to bypass adding an initial stored value amount to the cards.
