If you want to allow customers to provide special instructions for a delivery order, it's easy to add space for them to add a comment when they check out.
From the Dashboard, select a restaurant, click the General Settings button
From the top menu, click on Settings, then and select Menu/Checkout Settings from the list:
Scroll down the Menu/Checkout Settings page until you see Custom Checkout Fields section.
Click the Add Checkout Field button
Adjust the settings to meet your restaurant's needs:
Field Name: This is what customers will see; we recommend something like "Delivery Instructions."
Field Label: If you need to have name for this field that is different from what customers will see, Field Label is what they will see. If you leave it blank, customers will see the text you entered in Field Name.
Field Type: We recommend either a Single-line text field, Multi-line text field; this will let customer type text into an open box.
Character Count Limit: If you want to limit how much text customers can enter, set a limit here.
Help Text: If you want text to show to customers (e.g. "add any special delivery instructions here"), you can add it here.
Required: We don't recommend ticking this box as many customers won't have any special delivery instructions; this should be an optional field.
Show On: Select "Delivery" from the pull-down menu (pickup orders don't require delivery instructions; selecting "Both" might confuse customers).
That's it! Click the Save button to save your settings.
