What Guest Website Changes are Self-Service

This article reviews the self-service guest website changes that can be made via the Guest Website tool in the Paytronix Client portal

Updated over 2 months ago

Learn how to make changes to your Guest Website via the Guest Website tool in the Paytronix Client portal.

What should I know before I start?

1. Ensure you have the proper permissions to utilize the Guest Website features. If you do not currently have access, contact your User Admin to get the proper permissions added to your account. You will need to be assigned the following permissions:

  • Guest Website

  • Guest Website - Change Theme

2. The guest website tool will allow you to edit all possible pages; it's unlikely that you will need to edit or modify every type of page. Review the pages that are relevant based on the services you work with Paytronix.

3. The guest website is designed to be easy to set up; it cannot accommodate every single type of customization. You'll be able to customize the following elements:

  • Theme

  • Colors

  • Logo

  • Button names/descriptors

  • Default text

  • Custom styling via CSS

4. You are required to include Captcha on any Paytronix guest website; this is a fraud/abuse prevention measure.

NOTE: The Preview Panel is not what a guest will see. To simulate what guests will see, right-click on the Guest Website URL link and open it in an incognito window.

How do I design my guest website?

The first step to creating your guest website is to log into the PXS Merchant Portal.

1. From the portal, Select Program Administration, and then Guest Website.

2. Start with General settings

General Settings

NOTE: Selecting a theme is a necessary step before continuing. If you customize other settings before selecting a theme and then decide to change the theme, all customizations you have previously made will be lost.

3. To see available themes, and select one, click the Change Theme link

Change Theme

4. On the Change Guest Website Theme page, you can select one of the available themes by clicking on the Select Theme link below the title of the theme.

Here's what each theme looks like:

5. After you select a theme, you'll likely want to make other customizations. All settings (color, logo, etc.) that you set under General will become the default style for all other pages, minimizing setup time on sub-pages. These are made from the menu to the left of the preview pane.

Color - Choose colors that align well with branding of your main website.

Logo - Add your logo to the guest website. All uploaded images must be in JPG, PNG, or GIF format only, and <1MB in size.

Promo Image - You can add a banner image that will appear only after guests log into the guest website. This image will only show on the page to check an account balance; it will not show on the home page. This is a great opportunity to specifically target registered guests with specific, timely promotions. If you don't plan on updating the image often, make sure the image isn't tied to a specific event, time/date, or campaign. If you do plan to update the image often, you can do so as often as you choose. All uploaded images must be in JPG, PNG, or GIF format only, and < 1MB in size.

String Settings - These are the settings that determine how text on links, buttons, and descriptive text appear to guests. One section that is particularly important is the "Show Balance Without Login Button?" We recommend selecting, "No" as this limits balance checking functionality only to guests with a login and password.

Custom CSS - You can use Custom CSS to set fonts, styles for links, etc. Clients often choose to copy/paste the CSS from their main site to the guest website to keep branding consistent. If you choose to do this, note that the CSS you are copying must be in Bootstrap 3 to be compatible).

How do I make my guest website live?

At any time you can scroll to the bottom to see three options:

REFRESH PREVIEW - This will refresh the preview pane on the right. It does not actually save any changes you've made so far; it just shows the customizations you've selected.

CANCEL - This will revert/re-set any customizations back as they were before you started. It's an "undo" function.

SUBMIT - This submits and saves your changes. If you make further changes, you will need to click the SUBMIT button each time to save them.
