Credential Creation

What is a credential? How do I create credentials?

Updated over 2 months ago

Overview

This allows you to create a new credential for a new location or locations changing back of house servers.

Before You Start

Before you get started, here are a couple important terms to know:

  • Credential – File generated by the Paytronix system that is unique to each location running a Paytronix Controller. It provides server authentication between the Paytronix Controller and the Paytronix servers.

  • MAC Address - a hardware identification number that uniquely identifies each device on a network.

Ensure you have the proper permissions to create credentials on your own. If you need permission, contact your User Admin to get the proper permissions added to your account. Please contact Paytronix Support if you have questions about credential creation.

Please note - credentials are only needed for POS systems that have a Back of House Server (Aloha, Micros 3700, Simphony, POSitouch, etc). POS Systems that are cloud based and connect to Paytronix via our API do not need credentials (Toast, Revel, etc).

Creating Credentials

Credentials are an integral part of successful PXC-PXS communication, and transactions at-large. They are created in PXS and generated on the BOH server upon Controller installation. You will need to know the store code and MAC address of the server in use.

Steps to generate a credential are as follows:

1. In the Paytronix Merchant Portal (PXS) go to Store Administration > Credentials > Create New Credential.

2. Input the MAC address under Hardware ID and submit. If successful, the credential will update with a choice to download it and insert manually into C:\Paytronix\Credentials. This process is done automatically when installing the Controller, and is not always necessary.
