Credentials are necessary for POS integrations that use a Paytronix Controller (PCX). The credential is authenticated against our servers (PXS) and allows the BOH server to relay communications between the store-level POS and PX transactional servers (PXS). Credential creation is the final PX-based step of store creation and must be done after every server replacement, as well. You will need specific permissions to make/edit credentials; please reach out to your user admin to be granted these permissions.

The credential will reference the security agent of the store, and is the MAC address of the external NIC. You will find this through a command run on your BOH terminal where you are installing the Controller: (Windows Start menu) > type โ€œcmdโ€ to launch Command Prompt > type โ€œipconfig/allโ€ > find the physical address (a series of 6 pairs). This is the MAC address.

CMD MAC Address

You will insert this MAC address under the Label and Hardware ID sections of a new credential.

To create a new credential:
โ€‹
1. In the PXS Merchant (https://www.pxsweb.com/merchant/home.srv) in Quick Find type in credential and select Credentials.

Credential

2. Click Create Credential.
3. In the Stores Agent drop-down select the store you are adding the credential to.
4. In the Label and Hardware ID Type field enter the MAC Address.

New Credential

5. Click Submit. Note: Each credential is unique, and therefore MACs cannot be duplicates.
โ€‹
After creating the credential, there will be an option to directly download it.

Credential Download

If needed, the credential file can be inserted into the C:\Paytronix\credentials directory. It will be titled similarly to cred_30_13142_13840_22134.txt.

You are now set to install the Paytronix Controller service, found at paytronix.com/support. For directions on installation, upgrading, or troubleshooting, please review the Paytronix Controller (PXC) Installation & Upgrade Guide and Troubleshooting Paytronix Controller (PXC) Installation & Upgrade articles.
