Paytronix for Aloha User Program installation through NCR Command Center (CMC)

This article describes the process to install the Paytronix for Aloha User Program through NCR Command Center (CMC).

Written by Sharon Quill

NCR RAL is normally used for the installation of the Paytronix for Aloha User Program on the terminals. In some cases where it may not be possible to use RAL, the Paytronix for Aloha User Program may be manually installed on the terminals through NCR Command Center (CMC).

Preliminary Steps

Install the Paytronix Controller

  1. Download the Paytronix for Aloha software installation kit and extract it.

  2. Install the Paytronix Controller (PXC) on the store's back-of-house (BOH) system and confirm the PXC is running and connected.

  3. Confirm the C:\Paytronix\config\userprog\pxalohaui.cfg file is present in the PXC installation folder on the store's BOH system.

⚠️Important: The pxalohaui.cfg file must be present in the PXC install folder before proceeding.

Create staging folder for user program installation

A staging folder containing all Paytronix for Aloha User Program files is set up to use for installing to the store terminals through CMC. For the example screenshots in this article, the Paytronix for Aloha User Program folder is staged in a folder named Paytronix under the C:\PxInstall folder on the CMC system.

  1. Create the Paytronix folder on the CMC system to use for staging the Paytronix for Aloha User Program files. This Paytronix staging folder is separate from the PXC installation folder.

  2. Create the Paytronix\config folder.

  3. Copy the C:\Paytronix\config\userprog folder from the store's BOH system to the Paytronix\config folder on the CMC system. The userprog folder must contain the required pxalohaui.cfg configuration file. For some store setups, the optional langConfig.cfg file may also be present.

  4. Extract the aloha-user-program-<Version>.zip archive into the Paytronix staging folder on the CMC system. The *.bmp and pxalohaui.exe files must be at the root level of the Paytronix staging folder.

  5. Delete the following files from the Paytronix staging folder on the CMC system, as they are not needed for the Paytronix for Aloha User Program installation on the terminals:

    • Manifest folder

    • RegisterPxAlohaUI.bat file

    • registertlb.exe file

    • UnregisterPxAlohaUI.bat file

  6. The resulting Paytronix staging folder on the CMC system would now contain all files to be installed on the terminals. The Paytronix for Aloha User Program file structure in this staging folder should look like the following:

    • CMC System

      • C:\PxInstall

        • \Paytronix

          • \config

            • \userprog

              • langConfig.cfg (most setups do not have or use this file)

              • pxalohaui.cfg

          • *.bmp (43 files)

          • pxalohaui.exe

Install the user program on the store terminals

  • In CMC, select the File Manager view.

File Manager
  • Select the Terminal to be installed and then the Load List button.

Terminal selection
  • The File Manager panel on the left displays the local CMC system’s files. Navigate to the folder that contains the staged Paytronix folder. The File Manager panel on the right displays the remote system’s (terminal) files. Ensure the remote system is at the C:\ root level.

Remote system
  • Right-click on the Paytronix folder in the left File List panel and then select Upload to copy the selected folder and its contents from the local CMC system to the remote terminal system.

FIle list panel
  • Confirm the Paytronix folder is now at the C:\ root level on the terminal.

Confirm Paytronix folder at root level
  • Select the Terminal and then the Run Command button.

Select Terminal then Run Command
  • Enter the following command and select the OK button to register the Paytronix for Aloha User Program on the terminal.

C:\Paytronix\pxalohaui.exe /RegServer
Register Paytronix User Program
  • The Command line UI drop-down in the Run Command dialog lists the recent commands that were previously run. The registration command can be selected this way for subsequent installations on other terminals.

List of recent commands
  • Select the Terminal and then the Reboot button to reboot the terminal. For the Paytronix for Aloha User Program to launch after installation, the terminal must be rebooted.

Select Terminal then Reboot
  • After the terminal completes the reboot process and is online again in CMC, select the Terminal and then the Query Tasks button to display the list of tasks running on the terminal.

Select Terminal then QueryTasks
  • Confirm the Task List for the terminal includes the Paytronix for Aloha User Program process, PXALOH~1, and the Aloha FOH process, either Iber or IberQS.

Task list
  • Repeat the process in this section for the remaining terminals at the store.

📌Note: The *.bmp and pxalohaui.exe files in the Paytronix for Aloha User Program are the same for all installations, but the pxalohaui.cfg file may differ across some or all stores. Before proceeding to the next store for installation, determine if that store uses the same or a different pxalohaui.cfg file. If a different pxalohaui.cfg file is used, copy the C:\Paytronix\config\userprog folder from the next store’s BOH system to the Paytronix\config folder on the CMC system before installing the terminals for that next store. If the same pxalohaui.cfg file is used, no updates would be needed to the Paytronix staging folder on the CMC system before installing the next store.
