Overview

Dashboards allow you to look closer at loyalty data to gain insights about guest behavior. They help you answer some of your most important questions:

  • What time of day do guests spend the most? Where could we improve?

  • How many guests joined the loyalty program up this week? Last month?

  • Which stores are doing the best at getting guests to join? Which ones need coaching?

  • Which enrollment and registration methods are the most popular with guests?

You can find Dashboards in the Merchant Portal by navigating from the main menu.

Analytics in left hand navigation menu

Then, navigate to the upper right hand side of your screen to view the index of available Dashboards.

Before You Start

Before you get started with Dashboards, a few important notes:

  • You will need permission to view the Analytics section of Report Center. If you cannot access Analytics, you'll need to contact the Paytronix administrator at your organization.

  • How can you tell if you don't have permission? If you don't see Analytics on the Report Center list (see image above), you will need additional permission to proceed.

  • You will be able to see all Dashboards even if you are not currently using a particular feature.

  • For example, if you don't currently have a mobile app, you'll still be able to see Dashboards for mobile activity (they'll be blank, but you will be able to see them).

Dashboards vs Reports

  • Dashboard data is updated and processed nightly; when you run a report, you will get data that is no more than 4 hours behind from the time you run the report.

  • This means there isn't any way to look at a Dashboard and see current-day data. You can analyze and visualize today's data, tomorrow.

  • Here's a common scenario:

    • You have a loyalty program with tiers (silver and gold).

    • You are looking at spend and activity data for June.

    • Guest A starts June in the silver tier, but on his second visit in June, he moves up to gold. After moving up, he visits twice more in June, as a gold-tier member.

    • Guest B starts June as a gold-tier member; she visits 4 times in June.

    • What happens when you look at data in early July, for June? Specifically, if you look at spend/visit activity by gold-tier guests?

      • If you run the Point Accrual Summary Report (in Reports): the report is run with live data. Since you are running the report in July, both guests will show as gold-tier members, if you filter by tier, their spend activity will be grouped together. You'll see 7 total gold-tier transactions.

      • If you use Dashboards or Analyzers, the first two visits for Guest A will show as silver-tier transactions. You'll see 5 gold-tier transactions.

    • OK, so?

      • This means data may not match exactly between Dashboards and Reports.

      • Isn't that a bad thing? No. Reports and Dashboards are designed to work differently, to serve different purposes. Each analysis tool provides distinct benefits; if they were all built the same, you'd only have one analysis tool.

Dashboards

Dashboards offer a curated view of your Paytronix data, with a focus on a few high-level statistics. In our decades of experience, this data is the most important info about the health of your program. When you log in, you will see the Program Dashboard by default. Program Dashboard is powerful for loyalty programs; you can see high-level metrics: how many guests have recently joined the program, how many total marketable members are in your program, average spend per visit, etc.

We encourage you to take a look at the variety of Dashboards available (and their filtering options) to see which ones best apply to your program. They're also an excellent way to share visual, easy-to-digest data about your loyalty program with others on your team, and key decision makers.

Begin by selecting a Dashboard from the right hand navigation pane or you can search the Dashboard's title/name, but Dashboards are also tagged so you can also search by keywords/topics (e.g. messaging).

Filtering a Dashboard

Some Dashboards feature a Filters Bar at the top that allows you to customize the Dashboard's data output. The most heavily-used filter options are Date Range, and Card Template. Data customization for Dashboards is limited to the Filters you see.

To adjust the Filters on a Dashboard:

In the upper right corner of the Dashboard, you can expand or collapse the available filters.

Filters modal

After expanding, make your selections. As you can see in the image below, any selections you make will be summarized if you collapse the Filters Bar.

Hide filters

Click the 'Reload' symbol to re-load the Dashboard with your custom filtering.
