The Day of the Week Optimizer, an optional tool found within Campaign Builder, allows you to use artificial intelligence (AI) to determine the best day of week to send messages to each guest and easily integrate that information into your campaigns. The Day of the Week Optimizer looks at guest data such as transaction and visit history to determine which day guests are most likely to engage with your brand, improving campaign engagement, offering a more personalized loyalty program, and increasing the chances of a successful guest interaction. This feature is available to clients who have Messaging and Loyalty.

How Do I Use the Day of the Week Optimizer Feature?
Begin by creating your campaign in Campaign Builder. The Day of the Week Optimizer is located under the Schedule tab in Campaign Builder.
When turned on, the campaign will send once per day, adjusting for each guest’s best day. It will send at the same time each day, and Day of Week campaigns can be anywhere from 2-7 days in length.
TIP: Day of Week campaigns can only be scheduled as 'Deferred' campaigns.
How Does the Day of the Week Optimizer Select Days for Each Guest?
A guest’s best day of week is determined by AI using information about their visit and engagement behavior. Guest scores are updated each day.
The campaign population is determined on the first day of the campaign. At that time, all account filters will run, assigning guests to their best day of the week. If a guest does not have a best day of week and is included in a campaign, they will be added to the first day of the campaign.
On each subsequent day, the account filters are rerun to ensure guests still meet the campaign criteria, ensuring the message is not resent. If a guest does not meet the account filter criteria on the morning of their day, the guest will “qualify out” and be removed from the campaign. Please note that new guests cannot be added to the campaign once it begins.
If the campaign does not cover a guest’s best day, they will receive the message on their next closest day which is determined based on their day of week score and the proximity of the days of the campaign. For example, if a campaign runs Friday to Sunday and a guest’s best day is Thursday, they will receive the campaign on Friday.
What Reports Exist for the Day of the Week Optimizer?
Once the campaign runs, information about the campaign will appear on the Campaign Details page in Campaign Center. You can use this data to evaluate whether the campaign met your intended goals and determine next steps.
Available reports include:
Campaign Details– When a Day of Week campaign runs, the Campaign Details section in Campaign Builder will show results for each individual day of the campaign as well as aggregate results for the campaign overall.
Day of Week Stats Tab – When a Day of Week campaign runs, a new tab will appear on the campaign details page that includes more information about the campaign. This tab includes two visualizations: one showing how many guests received the campaign each day and how many were qualified out via account filter, and the other one showing how the email open rate compares for people who received the campaign on their best day of week versus those who receive the campaign on a day other than their best day.
Campaign Report – The Campaign Report will show information about Day of Week campaigns.
