Master Templates
Creating a Master Template
Create an email.
To convert the email to a master template, just click on “Save this email as a template“ checkbox.
Please rename the email and hit the "Save" button. Once an email becomes a "Master Template", you will be unable to send test emails.
Using a Master Template
Master Templates will live under “My Master Templates.” You can either copy or view the master template.
Open the Master Template that you want to use.
Uncheck the “Save this email as a template“ checkbox to convert it to an email. Rename the email and hit “Save”.
Then add Sender and Subject line information and hit the ‘Save’ button to save the content of the email.
Saved Rows and Synced Rows
Email Builder can save and update row designs for future use.
Save a Row
To save a row, select the row and click on the save button.
Select the category you would like to save the row under. There are currently four categories to pick from (CTA, Header, Body, and Footer).
Pick what type of saved row you want. There are 2 kinds of saved rows: Standard and Synced.
Then name your row but be careful of what you name your row because there is no way to rename it.
Use a Saved Row
To use a saved row in a different email, just navigate to the row tab and select the category where the row is saved then drag that row into the email.
Update a Standard Row
Select the row that you would like to update. Before making edits, click on the save button again to see if the row name will prepopulated. If the row name is prepopulated then the pressing save button will save over the existing row. If the row name is blank, then it will save as a new row.
To ensure that the row name will prepopulate, sometimes it is helpful to navigate to the row tab and drop in the row you would like to update again into the email.
Update a Synced Row
Select the row that you would like to update. There will be a button called "Edit synced rows".
Once you are done editing the synced row, click on the "Return to Email" button
Subject Lines
Personalize Subject Lines
To personalize subject lines, just put the parameter in the subject line.
Emojis
Emojis currently work only in the subject line and not in the body. To put an emoji in the subject line you need to use the hexadecimal code or hex code. Here is one example of a subject line using the emoji cake.
Use a resource like Emojipedia (https://emojipedia.org/).
Find the codepoint of the emoji by scrolling close to the bottom page. The codepoint of cake is U+1F382
Replace U+ with &#x and add a semicolon or “;” at the end to turn it into hex code. For example, the cake emoji codepoint U+1F382 would turn into 🎂
Send a test email to see how the emoji renders in the inbox.
Preheader Text / Preview Text
Preheader Text or Preview Text is used by inbox providers to give recipients a preview of an email’s content. Normally, email clients will pull the first line of text it sees in the HTML but there are ways to control this. If there is no text block then the system will pull text from the alt tag in the first image it finds.
Method 1: Display Preview Text
The easiest method is having the first-row content block be a text block with the preview text visible.
Method 2: Hid Preview Text
If you do not want customers to see the preview text in the email, then you can opt to make it invisible to guests by matching the text color to the background.

Mobile Optimization Basics
In email builder, you can control the mobile experience of an email by selecting a content block in a row and hiding the content for either on desktop or mobile. To avoid spacing issues in emails, it is best that you duplicate a row and hid all the content blocks for either desktop or mobile.
Here is a visual. The top row is optimized for mobile, and the bottom row is optimized for desktop.
In the desktop preview, for the second row I hid each element on mobile.
In the mobile preview, I hid the top row on desktop with visibility turned on.
If I turn off the visibility, it will hid the desktop row.
Additionally on mobile, you can turn on “Do not stack on mobile“ by selecting the row.
This will make the content block stack side by side instead of on top of each other only on the mobile view.
